The Elda City Council has launched free guided tours of its recently restored Civil War air-raid shelter, located in Plaza de Arriba, offering a new tourist and historical resource for the city.

The emblematic underground space will open its doors to the general public starting Saturday, November 7th, after completing an exhaustive restoration and museographic conditioning process carried out by the Department of Public Space and Investments. The intervention has included architectural consolidation and museographic adaptation of the route, encompassing specialized cleaning, sanitation of walls and vaults, humidity removal, and improvement of access and flooring.
The tours, organized by the Tourism Department, will be free of charge on weekends, with three daily sessions scheduled at 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 1:00 PM. To ensure the preservation of the heritage site and offer the best experience, tours will be conducted in guided groups of a maximum of 20 people.
The space has been equipped with an educational narrative featuring informational panels, historical images, and sound resources, transforming the shelter into an interpretation center aimed at showcasing daily life during those years and promoting values of peace and coexistence.

The musealization of the shelter was carried out through Elda's Tourism Sustainability Plan, funded by Next Generation EU Funds, as part of the Spanish Government's Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, in collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana.
Those interested in visiting the shelter should go, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, to Tourist Info Elda, located at Calle Nueva 14, or call 966 980 300. The office is open every day of the week.
