Bands and musical groups interested in participating in this contest, now in its 39th edition, have until January 25th to complete their registration via the Central Board's website. The event will take place on May 15, 2027, at the Teatro Castelar.
The announcement was made by the Councillor for Festivals, David Guardiola, accompanied by the president of the Central Board of Moors and Christians Companies of Elda, Pedro Serrano. Guardiola emphasized the importance of announcing the date in advance to allow bands sufficient time to prepare their performances rigorously.
For his part, Pedro Serrano indicated that this presentation marks the beginning of the 2026-2027 festival year. The contest will commence at 6:00 PM with a parade to the Teatro Castelar, where the competition will start at 7:00 PM. The draw for participating bands and their performance order will be held on Saturday, January 30th, at 12:00 PM.
The prizes will remain the same as in recent years: 5,000 euros for the first-place band, 3,000 euros for the second, and 2,000 euros for the third. Bands must perform a mandatory piece, a pasodoble, and a free choice piece, which will be a Moorish or Christian march, selected by the band. Additionally, a preliminary free choice piece, with a maximum duration of 4 minutes, will be performed but will not be scored.
Serrano encouraged all musical groups from the Valencian Community to participate in this contest, which highlights the region's music, festivities, and identity.
