Interested companies have until September 8th at 12:00 PM to submit their bids. The contract includes a three-week execution period, starting from the signing of the site survey report, to carry out the work.
The work will take place on a total of six roads, some of which function as streets, covering just over 11 kilometers. The objective is to improve the surface drainage of these roads by cleaning medians and ditches, as well as clearing the verges.
The affected roads are Rebolcat, Sant Joan de Ribera, the roads to Banyeres, Preventori, and Sant Antoni, as well as the south access. Verge clearing work will include the removal of invasive vegetation on non-forested slopes, with a total of 37 related actions planned.
Cleaning will involve mechanical sweeping of the roadway and ditches to remove debris, landslides, vegetation, or other waste. The verges will also be cleared of any objects found there.
Guanyar Alcoi had recently highlighted the poor condition of some of these roads and the need for action to prevent fires. Councilor Mari Carmen Paredes emphasized that fire prevention must be an absolute and sustained priority throughout the year, especially in a city like Alcoy.
The group expressed concern about the lack of maintenance on roads and access routes, both municipal and those under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Council. Paredes noted that invasive vegetation and insufficient cleaning pose a clear risk to the population and natural heritage, considering them negligences that could have serious consequences.
Particular attention was drawn to the roads towards Banyeres and Bocairent, as well as the access to the Preventori, although it was indicated that other roads also have deficiencies. Guanyar Alcoi considers regular maintenance essential, with special attention to sidewalks and vegetation clearing to ensure fire safety.
The councilor acknowledged the work of volunteer organizations like Acif but stressed that the primary responsibility lies with public administrations, which must ensure fire prevention through resources, planning, and political commitment.
Furthermore, Guanyar Alcoi criticized the cuts in resources allocated to fire prevention by the Generalitat, deeming the reduction in staff and budget incomprehensible in the context of climate crisis.
The group calls for immediate and coordinated action among administrations to ensure adequate fire prevention and proper road maintenance, emphasizing the need for foresight and sufficient resource allocation.
