The measure, aimed at rewarding citizen involvement, applies to those using the Door-to-Door system, card-access containers, or domestic composting. Participation is voluntary, but the council encourages the principle that 'those who separate better, pay less'.
This 20% municipal bonus is cumulative with the €10 reduction for households and €25 for businesses applied by the Consorci València Interior, provided they are registered in the municipal source separation system. This offers significant direct savings. For instance, a household in the central area without green waste will see its bill drop from €77.94 to €62.35 (a €15.59 saving), plus the Consorci discount.
For a villa in an extensive zone, the bill will decrease from €189 to €151.20, resulting in a municipal saving of €37.80. Combined with the Consorci discount, this represents a total benefit of nearly €48. Catering establishments can achieve municipal discounts of over €90, plus the €25 Consorci discount.
The expansion of these bonuses is supported by the strong public response and the results of the selective collection program, which has diverted over 650 tons of waste from the general bin to recyclable fractions. L'Eliana now exceeds the 50% domestic waste selective collection rate, a target set by European and state regulations.
The City Council continues to evaluate and implement improvements to the collection system to facilitate residents' daily lives. Complementary alternatives are being studied for greater citizen convenience, such as installing organic waste containers without card readers in residential areas to serve as an overflow and support for the Door-to-Door service, particularly for those who do not reside in the municipality year-round.
