Hundreds of residents from L'Eliana took to the streets, terraces, and open spaces to witness the total solar eclipse, which reached 100% occultation in the municipality. This astronomical event had not occurred since 1901 and will not be seen again until 2422.
The eclipse began at 7:38 PM. The totality phase started at 8:32 PM, with the maximum occurring around 8:33 PM, when the Sun was only 4.5 degrees above the horizon. For approximately 1 minute and 3 seconds, the Moon completely obscured the Sun, darkening the sky and offering an exceptional sight.
Many people observed the eclipse using approved glasses, distributed during the conference "When the Sun Goes Out," organized last June. This talk also served to explain the phenomenon's characteristics and the necessary safety measures for observation.
L'Eliana's location within the path of totality allowed for the enjoyment of a particularly exceptional event, which will remain etched in the memory of its inhabitants.
