The Bétera City Council has designated the Municipal Sports Center as an emergency shelter to accommodate residents of Gátova who were evacuated due to the advancing severe forest fire affecting the Sierra Calderona.

The Red Cross has set up up to 200 beds in the sports complex to house the displaced individuals and their pets. The Bétera City Council has provided all necessary personal and material resources for those affected.
By 8:00 PM, the municipal shelter was housing nearly fifty people and about ten pets. A Red Cross team is on-site to assist the evacuees, along with a patrol and the Chief Inspector of the Bétera Local Police, and volunteers from the Vilamarxant Civil Protection unit.
The Mayor of Bétera, Elia Verdevío, praised the "rapid response" from the Local Police, Civil Protection, municipal workers, Autocares Ramón, and the Cooperativa Agrícola de Bétera in assisting the residents of Gátova.
Concurrently, two patrols from the Bétera Local Police have been dispatched to Gátova to aid in evacuation and protection efforts in the area, alongside volunteers from the Bétera Civil Protection unit.
The Municipal Works Brigade has supplied tables, chairs, bottled water, electrical connections, and available personnel. The City Council is also collaborating with the Bétera Health Center and the management of the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital for healthcare.
Local companies such as Autocares Ramón and Cooperativa Agrícola de Bétera have provided buses for the evacuation and offered water to the affected individuals upon their arrival at the sports center.
