Bétera's 'alfàbegues' tradition extends this year throughout the Valencian territory with the donation of 63 specimens. The Valencian Government (Generalitat Valenciana), the Provincial Council of Valencia (Diputación de Valencia), and the Valencia City Council (Ayuntamiento de Valencia) were among the first recipients of these majestic plants, delivered by Bétera's Mayor, Elia Verdevío, and the Councillor for Festivals, Manuel Pérez.
Verdevío highlighted the importance of the 'alfàbegues' as an identity symbol of Bétera, emphasizing that their presence in key institutions ensures that the town's festivals and traditions reach the entire province and the Valencian Community as a whole.
Bétera's characteristic aroma has also graced emblematic sites in Valencia city, such as the Cathedral, the Central Market (Mercado Central), the Colón Market (Mercado de Colón), and the High Readiness Land Headquarters (Cuartel General Terrestre de Alta Disponibilidad). These locations, frequented by many citizens and tourists, serve as a showcase for the pride and devotion Bétera dedicates to these plants, which will be particularly showcased on August 15th during the 'Rodà de les Alfàbegues'.
The initiative extends to towns in the Camp de Turia region and neighboring areas like L'Horta Nord, La Costera, and La Safor, as well as healthcare facilities such as Arnau de Vilanova Hospital and Llíria Hospital, local elderly residences, and the town's parish.
This year, the 'alfàbegues' feature a QR code that, through a Tourism campaign, allows for interactive discovery of Bétera's cultural and festive heritage. Manuel Pérez, Councillor for Festivals, noted how the 'alfàbegues', confetti, and gunpowder make Bétera an increasingly attractive destination for visitors each year.
