The Bétera City Council has unveiled the program for the 'Month of Our Seniors,' taking place throughout October with activities focused on well-being, digital skills, and community engagement.

Throughout October, the senior population of Bétera will enjoy an extensive calendar of well-being, sports, digital training, and community activities. This initiative, driven by the Department of Social Rights in collaboration with various local entities such as UDP Bétera, Cruz Roja, the Sanitas Mayores residence, Colisée, Adiper, Atenzia, Serunion, and IsiBienestar, aims to promote active aging.
The program kicks off on October 1st with board games and petanque championships organized by UDP, running until October 16th. On the same day, new dance courses will be presented.
Digital literacy will play a significant role, featuring practical sessions on mobile phone usage by the VIVOFÀCIL Foundation, IT and photography workshops by Adiper, and a virtual reality experience facilitated by Cruz Roja.
There will also be space for reflection and cultural enrichment, including a roundtable discussion on the experience of aging hosted by Colisée, a historical conference on "Spaniards in Naples," and an autumn pumpkin workshop by Serunion.
Physical health and well-being are addressed through sessions of maintenance gymnastics, line dancing, and fit flamenco at the municipal sports center, positive thinking workshops with the Sanitas Mas Camarena residence, self-care and healthy movement guidance from Atenzia and IsiBienestar, and a personal care and aesthetics session with Merche Ferrer. On Saturday, October 17th, there will be a regional dance showcase through the streets of Bétera by the group Pensat i Fet.
The Mayor of Bétera, Elia Verdevío, emphasized that "our seniors are a fundamental pillar of society" and thanked all collaborating entities for their involvement. The Councilor for Social Rights, Marisa Martínez, highlighted the City Council's commitment to "offering activities tailored to their needs".
The closing event will take place on Friday, October 30th, at 6:00 PM in the Espai Jove i d’Igualtat, featuring the traditional tribute to couples celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversaries, marking the end of a month of recognition and community.
