The incident occurred on Sunday morning, shortly before 8:30 AM, when the driver, blinded by the sun, lost control of the vehicle on a small curve. The car knocked over a traffic sign, damaged metal beacons, and ended up with its Audi A3 inside a section of the wide Acequia del Rey.
Local Police officers attended the scene and collected testimony from the driver and a witness. Medical personnel transported the injured to Sagunt hospital. A second patrol administered an alcohol test to the driver, which, according to consulted sources, yielded a negative result.
Although a tow truck attended the scene on Sunday, the vehicle was still there on Wednesday morning. Given the car's position, largely within the ditch and with little maneuvering space, its removal will not be simple and will likely require partial traffic closures.
As of Tuesday, the tow truck for the crashed car's insurance, an Audi A3, had not yet been located, according to reliable sources.
