Sagunt's Roman Theatre hosts the performance of 'Fedra' this Thursday, August 18th, a contemporary reinterpretation of the Greek tragedy, starring Lydia Bosch and Julio Peña.

The show, starting at 10:30 PM, stages the story of the mythological queen played by Lydia Bosch, with Julio Peña as Hippolytus. Directed by José María del Castillo and featuring a renewed dramaturgy, it depicts the protagonist's return after a pact with the goddesses of destiny, seeking the peace denied by her passion for her stepson.
The play explores themes such as human passions, forbidden desires, moral judgments, and guilt from a current perspective. This performance is part of the prestigious Sagunt a Escena festival, organized by the Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Universidades through the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC), with support from the Diputación de Valencia and the Sagunt City Council.
Complementing the main program, the festival offers 'Off Romà', a series of free urban shows that will fill the streets of Sagunt with the theme of dragons.
On Friday, August 19th, at 9:00 PM in the Alameda de Sagunt, the Castellón-based company La Fam will present 'Quimera', an impressive street parade featuring an articulated creature six meters high and weighing 1,500 kilograms, manipulated by four performers.
On Saturday, August 20th, at 10:00 PM, the Casa de Cultura de Sagunt will host 'Princeses, cavallers i dracs' (Princesses, Knights, and Dragons), a co-production by Bramant Teatre and Escalante Centre Teatral. Directed by Jerónimo Cornelles, the play uses movement, music, and words to reflect on youth prejudices, stemming from an incident during a school visit to a museum.
