The Malvarrosa de Corinto beach in Sagunto is experiencing, for the second consecutive year, a lack of showers and deficient access walkways, causing discontent among local residents and associations.

The Malvarrosa de Corinto beach in Sagunto, recently regenerated with a significant sand replenishment, shows signs of "neglect" in basic aspects such as the installation of showers and the improvement of access walkways. This situation, recurring for the second year, has angered neighborhood associations in the area, Almardà Viva and Almardà, Corinto y Malvarrosa.
Despite flying the Blue Flag, wooden walkways are either missing in some areas or in disrepair, posing a risk of falls and injuries. Furthermore, the foot showers remain non-operational since the sea's advance destroyed the pipelines last year, with the Conselleria (Regional Ministry) failing to replace the infrastructure.
The associations have alerted the city council to the situation, emphasizing the need for these services to ensure the beach's proper condition, especially after regeneration. "Beaches that have regained their sand deserve to have walkways in good condition and with other services functioning correctly," stated Javier Gómez, vice president of Almardà Viva, lamenting that the 30,000 euro budget for foot showers has yet to be utilized.
Amparo Peris, president of the Almardà, Corinto y Malvarrosa association, pointed out the presence of debris from barriers, pruning waste, and uncollected garbage bags, in addition to the deficient walkways, which are "old and pose a risk of stepping on nails".
The Councilor for Beaches, Roberto Rovira, acknowledged the "delay" in walkway installation by the municipal company SAG, attributing it to the recent completion of regeneration works and the need to wait until July 1st to avoid interfering with the nesting of the Kentish plover. He also mentioned unforeseen issues such as a vehicle breakdown and damage to the accessible point entrance.
Regarding the foot showers, the Conselleria de Innovación, Industria, Comercio y Turismo has acknowledged being in "conversations with Costas" (the Coastal Authority) for their installation, but the technical complexity of the recently finished regeneration works is delaying their operation, leaving uncertainty about when users will be able to use them again.
