The plenary hall served as the venue for the traditional 'Prova de Veus', an event open to the public that announces the start of the Misteri d’Elx performances scheduled for August. The choirboys tested their voices by performing key fragments such as those of the María and her retinue, the Araceli, the Coronación, and the Ángel.
Mayor Pablo Ruz presided over the voice test and expressed his satisfaction: “the voices are ready, and we can be very pleased with what they have gifted us today in this plenary hall.” He addressed the 30 participating choirboys, thanking them for their “generosity in gifting us your voices,” and also their families.
Ruz highlighted that “every time the Misteri is performed in our basilica, Elche renews its commitment to history.” He added that “every August 15th, in the afternoon, your names, all of them, become part of tradition, written in golden letters in the heart of this town that looks to the sky.”
The event concluded with the traditional presentation of diplomas and institutional gifts by the City Council to the choirboys who are leaving the escolanía and to the other participants in the voice test.
