The initiative, coordinated by the UMH's Area of Exhibitions, Mediation, and Heritage, fosters cultural collaboration and dialogue between cultures through art. The Vice-Rector for Contemporary Creation and Cultural Mediation of the UMH, Susana Guerrero, led the event, which is part of the Vice-Rectorate for Culture, Equality, and Diversity's work focused on promoting contemporary creation, cultural mediation, and intercultural dialogue from a university perspective.
During the day, artists participated in a calligraphy, watercolor, and photography workshop, designed as a space for shared creation and exchange of experiences. The activity highlighted art as a tool for communication, mutual understanding, and coexistence.
The international delegation included Youssef Nait Belaid (Mohammed V University of Rabat), Nourdine Tabbai (president of the Association La Kasbah del Artista de Marruecos), and Natalia Molinos Navarro (CCHS-CSIC), among others.
The Encounter's program features conferences, artistic residencies, workshops, exhibitions, excursions, and debates to foster connections between artists from different backgrounds and promote intercultural understanding through artistic creation.
As part of the program, representatives visited the Faculty of Fine Arts in Altea at UMH, accompanied by Susana Guerrero and José Antonio Hinojos. This visit allowed the delegation to gain firsthand knowledge of other university spaces linked to artistic training and contemporary creation, and to lay the groundwork for future collaboration agreements between the Mohammed V University of Rabat and the UMH.
Through this collaboration, the UMH reinforces its commitment to cultural projects that promote interculturality, artistic mediation, and the connection between the university, creators, and the cultural fabric of the region.
