The meeting, held until September 4, combines communication and poster sessions with field activities to study the soils and landscapes of the Alcoy area. The event, organized by the UMH in collaboration with the Spanish Society of Soil Science (SECS), is one of the main national scientific gatherings dedicated to soil study.
RENS 2026 will provide insights into the latest advances in research, conservation, and sustainable management of this essential resource. Activities include visits to various sites of edaphological, environmental, and geological interest, as well as cultural and outreach activities on the region's natural and cultural heritage.
The event will also serve to highlight the diversity of soils in the province of Alicante and emphasize the role of Soil Science in addressing major environmental challenges such as soil degradation, erosion, climate change, forest fires, and ecosystem conservation.
Collaborators in the organization include Fundició Rodes, the Faculty of Experimental Sciences of the UMH, Ford Movilsa, the Font Roja Natural Park, the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park, the Official College of Environmental Scientists of the Valencian Community (COAMBCV), Van Walt, Eurofins, Renovalia, Alifornia Living, and Fertinagro Biotech. The Municipalities of Alcoy and Muro de Alcoy, the Valencian Government, and the SECS have also participated.
