The ceremony, presided over by UMH Rector Juan José Ruiz Martínez, will include the investiture of Valentín Martínez Pillet, director of the Canary Islands Astrophysical Institute, as Doctor Honoris Causa. Professor Mari Carmen Perea from the Area of Applied Mathematics at UMH will be the godmother of the new Doctor Honoris Causa.
Valentín Martínez, originally from Alicante, holds a degree in Physical Sciences and a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of La Laguna, with over 90 articles published in scientific journals.
During the same event, the UMH will also present service awards to staff who have retired or passed away, having ceased their services at the university.
