The Valencian Community continues with sidewalk renovation and modernization works in various neighborhoods of the municipality of Elche. The Councilor for Public Services, Claudio Guilabert, has announced the continuation of these projects aimed at improving accessibility, safety, and the image of public spaces.
This week marks the beginning of the second phase of modernization for Alicante Avenue, covering the remaining section from Plaza de Benidorm to Juan Carlos I. The project, which includes sidewalk renewal for both blocks and the green area, has a budget of 40,243 euros.
Additionally, renovation works have started on Francisco Alemañ street, near La Llotja. These works, with an investment of 95,664 euros and a four-month execution period, include sidewalk renewal, tree planting, and the installation of drip irrigation. Previously, Aigües d’Elx is renewing the drinking water network to replace old asbestos-cement pipes with cast iron ones.
The councilor also highlighted the recent approval of a new tender for 325,655 euros, designated for actions in the neighborhoods of Altabix and Sector V, including the renovation of the Plaza de Conde Casas Rojas.
In total, the sidewalk projects currently planned or underway amount to an investment of 1.2 million euros this year and nearly 3 million euros over the last three years. A new contract is being prepared to extend sidewalk renovation to the districts of Valverde, La Hoya, Las Bayas, Torrellano, and Arenales del Sol, with a budget of 425,000 euros. This latest tender will include the completion of Ausiàs March street, as well as Emilio Hernández Selva street, Francisco Tomás y Valiente street, and the street in front of the Pabellón Sara Marín and María Díez.
Claudio Guilabert emphasized that the modernization of public spaces and neighborhoods is fundamental for the municipal government, with the aim of continuing to improve them uniformly and address the needs of all neighborhoods and districts.
