Elche City Council has initiated the registration process for the professional career of its public employees, a measure that has already received applications from 1,500 of the 2,000 staff members.

The deadline for registration remains open until September 7. This initiative, which has been a long-standing demand of unions, aims to streamline and modernize public service through an incentive system based on the achievement of objectives and professional competencies.
The Human Resources department has established that the evaluation will be annual and will consider aspects such as work quality, acquired training, and the fulfillment of assigned duties. The program will be implemented progressively over the next five years, with a total budget of 10 million euros.

"Each worker will be compensated for their work performance based on the fulfillment of objectives and competencies."

Despite the majority support, some unions have expressed disagreements regarding access criteria related to temporary disabilities. Additionally, the regulation sets a mandatory requirement of at least three years of seniority in the administration to be eligible for economic incentives, which range from 1,000 to 13,200 euros depending on the position held.
