Manuel Jordán, Professor of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry at the UMH, will serve as the chairman of the Congress Organizing Committee. The announcement was made yesterday in Madrid during a round table organized by the Official College of Chemists of Madrid and the Association of Chemists and Chemical Engineers of Madrid.
The event brought together researchers and experts from Spanish and Ibero-American institutions within the framework of the Ibero-American Network IBERLITIO, part of the CYTED program (2024-2027). Participants included Professor Manuel Jordán and Jesús María Rincón, coordinator of the Spanish IBERLITIO groups. Both are co-authors of the article "Minerales de Litio y sus Aplicaciones en la ‘Edad del Vidrio’", featured in a special issue of the journal Estudios Geológicos presented at the event.
Also participating were María del Carmen Clemente Jul, emeritus professor from the Polytechnic University of Madrid; Félix Javier Barrio de Miguel, manager of the Energy Area (Area 7) of CYTED; Jaime Alberto Rocha Valenzuela from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (Bolivia) and IBERLITIO coordinator; and Paola Silva, responsible for the Brazil groups at the Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul.
Jordán's involvement in IBERLITIO and his leadership of the upcoming congress reinforce the UMH's position as a national reference in applied research on lithium, a mineral crucial for batteries, electromobility, and the global energy transition.
