The Councilor for Culture, Irene Ruiz, has highlighted that these activities allow traditions to be kept alive and introduced to new generations in a participatory and creative way.
The program began on September 12 at the Puçol School Museum with ethnobotany and cyanotype, to learn about the uses of plants from the Camp d'Elx. On September 19, l'Hort dels Pontos hosted the 'Mesa de sabios Corazón Verde' gathering, an intergenerational knowledge exchange, and the inauguration of the exhibition 'Manos que tejen', dedicated to the crafts of esparto, palm, and hemp.
Activities will continue on October 17 with an esparto workshop and a guided tour of the exhibition. On November 14, the Puçol School Museum will offer a chair-caning workshop. That same month, on November 21, l'Hort de Pontos will propose an aloe vera shampoo making workshop and a guided tour of its garden.
For December, on the 12th, l'Hort de Pontos will host a loom weaving workshop, and on the 19th, the Puçol School Museum will hold the traditional mantecados workshop, where participants can make and bake Christmas sweets in a traditional wood-fired oven.
The program will conclude on January 5 at l'Hort de Pontos, reviving the Illicitana tradition of 'atxes' with a workshop to create them, accompanied by traditional games.
