The Dominican delegation, led by Minister Rafael Santos, included Vice-Minister of International Relations, Paula Disla; Administrative and Financial Vice-Minister, Otto Vargas; and Vice-Minister of Science and Technology, Genaro Rodríguez. The meeting was attended by UMH Rector, Juan José Ruiz Martínez, and Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, Vicente Micol Molina.
During the meeting, the delegation spoke with Dominican students on MESCyT scholarships pursuing master's degrees at UMH. This exchange provided firsthand insights into their academic experience and stay in Spain, and aimed to strengthen university cooperation ties between both countries. For the 2026/27 academic year, UMH hosts 38 Dominican scholarship students, bringing the total to 186 over the last six academic years.
The delegation also visited the facilities of PLD Space, an aerospace company born from UMH's entrepreneurial ecosystem and a recognized player in the European space sector. The visit showcased the University's potential in entrepreneurship, knowledge transfer, and the creation of technology-based companies (spin-offs and start-ups), highlighting a successful business initiative that began at UMH.
