The lecture, titled 'El Ibérico Gratuito and the model of Spanish-language free media in London', will focus on the evolution of the newspaper aimed at the Spanish-speaking community in London. The first session, for the Degree in Journalism, will take place on September 28 at 09:00 AM in room 1.5 of the Altabix building on the Elche campus. The second session, for the Degree in Audiovisual Communication, will be held on September 29 at 4:30 PM in room 5 of the Atzavares building, also on the Elche campus.
Both sessions, which will present the same content, are part of the Theory of Communication course and are organized by UMH professor Montserrat Jurado, who will also moderate. Students will be able to learn firsthand about content and source management, team organization, professional routines, audience knowledge, and the advertising strategies that sustain a specialized free media outlet.
Each session will last 45 minutes, followed by an open Q&A for attendees. The aim is for UMH students to understand the internal workings of a media outlet that informs the Spanish-speaking community in London, the service it provides, and the editorial and business challenges of digital transformation.
