The program, aimed at young people aged 12 to 16, has ended with a very positive assessment from the organization and an excellent reception among participants. The Councilor for Social Welfare, Agustina Rodríguez, participated in the closing ceremony, where she presented a souvenir to each young person.
Rodríguez expressed her satisfaction with the program's results, highlighting that “this first edition has been a complete success”. She emphasized that they have succeeded in getting young people to enjoy activities designed for them, share experiences, make new friends, and above all, have the opportunity to participate in educational leisure proposals that, in many cases, they could not access otherwise.
During July, teenagers enjoyed a program that combined sports, nature, creativity, and community building. Activities included water sports such as surfing, paddle surfing, and bodyboarding, adventure activities, climbing, and an excursion to the island of Tabarca.
One of the most notable aspects has been intergenerational coexistence, with workshops shared with seniors from the Alameda del Mar Civic Center, where a significant part of the program took place, fostering the exchange of experiences between generations.
The councilor pointed out that the program responded to a need previously communicated by families and professionals working with minors in Orihuela Costa. She thanked the four professionals from the Municipal Social Services responsible for the program's development for their dedication in ensuring a safe environment.
‘Costa Summer 26’ has been a completely free initiative for families, aimed at teenagers who are users of the Municipal Social Services or are in situations of social vulnerability, with the goal of promoting equal opportunities, integration, and healthy lifestyle habits.
Agustina Rodríguez concluded by emphasizing that “the most important thing is that these young people take away good memories, new friendships, and experiences that have allowed them to enjoy their free time. That is the best reward for the work done and the true success of this program”.
