The Orihuela Tourism Department has received the Intelligent Tourist Destination (DTI) Diagnosis Report from SEGITTUR, marking a key step towards implementing this methodology.

Orihuela has completed a new stage in its transformation into a national Intelligent Tourist Destination (DTI). The Tourism Department now possesses the Diagnosis Report prepared by the State Business Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (SEGITTUR). With this step, Orihuela becomes an Adhering Tourist Destination to the National DTI model.
This accreditation confirms the initiation of a methodology that embraces a future tourism strategy based on governance, sustainability, accessibility, innovation, and technology. The process has allowed SEGITTUR to analyze Orihuela's maturity in these areas and offer recommendations for continued progress.
The report will serve as a planning tool for the City Council, identifying areas for improvement and setting priorities to consolidate a more competitive and sustainable tourism model. This advancement follows the recognition previously obtained at the regional level, where Orihuela achieved Level 3 of the Valencian Community's Network of Intelligent Tourist Destinations (DTI-CV).
The DTI model, promoted by the State Secretariat for Tourism and managed by SEGITTUR, aims to enhance the competitiveness of destinations and the quality of life for residents. It focuses on five pillars: governance, innovation, technology, sustainability, and accessibility, for comprehensive transformation.
An Intelligent Tourist Destination is defined as an innovative destination with cutting-edge technological infrastructure, promoting sustainable development, being accessible, and facilitating visitor interaction with the environment. With this roadmap, Orihuela strengthens its tourism strategy focused on continuous improvement and sustainability.
