The Department of Health and Education in Orihuela have launched the school campaign “We Are What We Eat”, aimed at first-grade primary school children to raise awareness about the importance of a varied and balanced diet.

The campaign, supported by the Department of Health, led by Irene Celdrán, and the Education area, managed by Vicente Pina, intends for schoolchildren to learn about foods, their colors, flavors, and nutritional contributions, as well as the significance of a balanced diet.
“We Are What We Eat” is based on the book of the same name by María Ortuño and, starting next week, will visit various educational centers in Orihuela to convey the campaign's message in a simple and fun way, promoting prevention and health education from an early age.
The Councilor for Health highlighted that children's curiosity will be leveraged to “teach them something as important as learning to care for their bodies through food”. Irene Celdrán emphasized that “school is a fundamental space for health education, but this learning must also continue at home”.
The Councilor for Education expressed his wish “that this initiative is reflected at home, as it is a great project that will reach the city's schools”. Vicente Pina thanked the Department of Health for this initiative, predicting “that it will be a great success among all its recipients”.
