The Valencian Institute for Competitiveness and Innovation (Ivace+i) has opened the application period for grants that subsidize up to 80% of the cost of replacing combustion engines with electric ones on boats navigating in Valencian natural parks.

The aid program, promoted by the Conselleria of Industry, Tourism, Innovation, and Commerce, aims to incentivize boat owners in natural parks such as La Albufera of Valencia, El Hondo of Elche, and Las Salinas of Torrevieja to adopt electric motors. The goal is to promote more sustainable mobility and reduce pollution in environmentally sensitive areas.
Currently, boats in these areas use combustion engines, mainly gasoline, which generate a negative environmental impact through fumes, fuel or oil spills, and noise, affecting local flora and fauna.
Ivace+i Energía will allocate a total of 400,000 euros to this initiative. The grants will cover up to 80% of the engine replacement cost and can be applied for until July 28, 2026. Boats used for fishing, recreation, tourism, or traditional Latin sailing will be eligible for the aid, provided they have permits to navigate in the mentioned natural parks.
Furthermore, boats must include an energy storage system that is not of lead-acid technology. The transition to electric motors is considered ideal for the conditions of these calm waters and short routes, promising a significant reduction in emissions and noise.
