Tow trucks began removing the 34 cars that caught fire in a private lot in Peñíscola this Thursday, after an initial vehicle ignited the blaze.

The atmosphere at the Peñíscola lot where 34 vehicles burned on Wednesday afternoon was one of dealing with insurance companies and finding alternative transport. The fire started in a single car hours before Spain paused to observe a historic eclipse.
Many of the affected vehicle owners had parked in this lot due to its proximity to the official eclipse viewing point, as parking was prohibited in certain areas of the municipality. One of the vacationers, from Zaragoza, explained that his vehicle, though not completely destroyed, had significant damage and he could not return home.
Other affected individuals, like Fortunato, also a summer resident in Peñíscola, had to arrange for tow trucks to take their unusable vehicles to scrapyards. The situation forced many to seek solutions for car repairs and their return to their usual residences.
The Peñíscola City Council has reiterated that the lot where the burned cars were located is private property and was not authorized as a municipal parking area. The fire, which began in a single vehicle and spread rapidly, ultimately affected 34 cars despite the firefighters' efforts.
