The fire started on land adjacent to the Peñismar area, a few meters from the parking lot located between the Peñíscola-Benicarló road and the residential zone. The rapid spread of the flames generated a large column of black smoke visible from various points.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire may have started in an electric car parked in the lot and quickly spread to other vehicles. The exact number of affected cars is still unknown, but at least three automobiles have been confirmed completely burnt.
Firefighters from the provincial consortium of Baix Maestrat are at the scene working to extinguish the flames and prevent further spread.
