The Ontinyent City Council has awarded works for 35,277.55 euros to construct a rainwater collector that will prevent flooding around the Day Centre for People with Disabilities and the Vall Blanca Special Education Centre.

The project, awarded to the local company Grupo Jormar Sanchis Revert SL, aims to improve rainwater drainage and ensure the accessibility and safety of sensitive facilities. The intervention seeks to prevent water accumulation from causing access and usage problems at these centres.
The Councillor for Territory, Óscar Borrell, highlighted that the work addresses a specific need to guarantee adequate safety and accessibility conditions. "Improving infrastructure and rainwater drainage is important to prevent problems during intense rainfall events," he stated.
These works are part of the Ontinyent Government's ongoing efforts to enhance the city's resilience to intense rainfall. The city has already implemented major infrastructure projects, such as transforming the former Cantereria neighbourhood into an inflatable park and the Benarrai anti-flood works, which have significantly improved preparedness since the DANA of 2019.
Borrell emphasized the importance of addressing specific issues in various parts of the city, in addition to large-scale infrastructure. "More localized actions, like this collector to protect the Day Centre, are equally necessary," he said, "as they improve the safety of spaces and facilities requiring special attention".
