The plenary session of the Provincial Council of Valencia approved on October 20 a new nominative subsidy of 700,000 euros for the Ontinyent City Council. This contribution will be used for the construction of the new municipal works warehouse, which will be located in the former ADIF railway facilities. With this new funding, the provincial institution's investment in this infrastructure now exceeds one million euros, adding the 300,000 euros granted in 2024 for the purchase of the warehouses and the 20,000 euros provided in 2025 for the project's design.
The first vice-president of the Provincial Council of Valencia and deputy for Municipal Cooperation, Natàlia Enguix, highlighted during the session that this project is fundamental for improving the efficiency of municipal services. According to her statement, the new facilities will allow for the organization and storage of materials, tools, machinery, and vehicles, thereby optimizing resources and enabling a more agile response to the city's maintenance needs.
The Ontinyent City Council also plans to incorporate homologated classrooms into the new building to qualify for new employment workshops in specialties such as construction, gardening, or forestry work, aiming to continue supporting employment policies in inland municipalities.
Enguix emphasized the importance of cooperation between administrations to address the specific needs of municipalities, adding that investments that improve public services ultimately translate into a better quality of life for the residents of Ontinyent.
The new subsidy will advance the construction of facilities that will centralize the material and logistical resources of the municipal Works department, improving the organization of materials, tools, and vehicles, optimizing brigade logistics, and facilitating maintenance tasks for the city's infrastructure and public spaces. The operation is part of the process initiated with the purchase of the train station warehouses, which the City Council previously used under a rental agreement with ADIF.
