The festive day begins early with a mass at Sant Carles church at 10:00 AM and the opening of Santa Maria until 1:30 PM. At 11:00 AM, gunpowder fills the streets with the first arquebus battle, with the Moorish and Christian sides clashing from different parts of the city.
The climax arrives at 12:00 PM in the Plaza Mayor with the Moorish Embassy, reenacting the conflict for control of the town with verses by Joaquín José Cervino. Afterwards, the comparsas (groups) will parade through Maians and Gomis streets, followed by a performance by Xaranga El Dólar at the Textile Museum.
In the afternoon, at 5:00 PM, the second arquebus battle will take place, with roles reversed. At 6:00 PM, the Plaza Mayor will host the Christian Embassy, which dramatizes the reconquest of the city.
Immediately after the afternoon embassy, the Final Parade will commence through Maians and Gomis streets, marking the end of an intense weekend. The day's program concludes at 8:00 PM at the Textile Museum with Xaranga El Dólar.
Despite the conclusion of the main events, Ontinyent's Moors and Christians festival still has dates in September. On Saturday the 5th, the Gala Fin de Fiesta at the Echegaray Theatre will award prizes. The following day, Sunday the 6th, there will be a Misa de Dobla and the Solemn Procession of the Ascent of the Most Holy Christ, which will end with a fireworks display.
