The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated a red alert for "intense and widespread heat" for tomorrow, continuing the red and orange warnings affecting a large part of Valencian municipalities today. Temperatures are expected to reach 38 °C in locations such as Ontinyent or Requena, while the general temperature will not drop below 35 °C.
The Ministry of Health has provided a list of municipalities according to the estimated risk level to urge caution. Municipalities in regions such as El Baix Maestrat, El Valle de Cofrentes-Ayora, El Vinalopó Mitjà, Els Ports, La Canal de Navarrés, La Costera, La Hoya de Buñol, La Ribera Alta, La Ribera Baixa, La Safor, and La Vall d'Albaida, among others, are at high risk (red). In total, 16 regions and 163 municipalities are on alert for extreme heat, in addition to possible dry thunderstorms, thermal downdrafts, and strong, short-lived wind gusts.
The orange alert (medium risk) will affect 113 municipalities, mainly in coastal areas of the Valencian Community and the metropolitan area of València. Affected areas include La Marina Baixa, La Plana Alta, La Plana Baixa, La Ribera Alta (with Montserrat and Turís), L'Alacantí, L'Alcalatén, L'Alt Maestrat, L'Horta Nord, L'Horta Sud, Los Serranos, and the city of València.
