The Agullent City Council has finalized the improvement and conditioning works on the Camino del Catalí. This intervention has renewed the surface of this rural road, thereby facilitating access to the agricultural areas of the municipality. The project received a grant of 62,761.84 euros from the Generalitat Valenciana, as part of the rural road improvement aid line promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Livestock, and Fisheries. The remaining cost, totaling 104,808.49 euros, was covered by the council's own funds.
The works were carried out on different sections of the road, which exhibited varying states of conservation. In sections with deteriorated asphalt pavement, new asphalting was applied. Conversely, in sections that still had dirt pavement, reinforced concrete pavement with fibers was installed. The work also included preliminary terrain preparation, such as clearing the margins, compaction, adding gravel, and surface adaptation, as well as ensuring proper drainage of rainwater.
The new concrete pavement reinforced with fibers enhances the surface's resistance to the frequent traffic of agricultural vehicles and machinery. This improvement increases the road's durability and reduces deterioration caused by use and erosion. The enhancement of the Camino del Catalí facilitates the movement of agricultural machinery and access for owners and workers to the plots, while also supporting maintenance and surveillance tasks in agricultural areas.
The proper maintenance of the rural road network plays a significant role in land management and fire prevention, as these routes provide access to various agricultural spaces and help create discontinuities in the territory. Through this initiative, the Agullent City Council continues its work in improving and maintaining the municipal rural road network, which are essential infrastructures for agricultural activity and territorial connectivity.
