The National Police have arrested an individual at the Pirata Beach Festival in Gandia for theft using the Faraday method, employing aluminum foil to nullify the electromagnetic waves of mobile phones.

During the eighth edition of the Pirata Beach Festival in Gandia, a music event that gathered tens of thousands of attendees, the National Police conducted public security operations. Officers from the Gandia Police Station, supported by reinforcements from the Intervention Police Unit (UIP), intensified surveillance at the festival's entrances and exits.
Among various seizures, one notable incident involved a person of Romanian nationality found with a dozen mobile phones wrapped in aluminum foil, resembling sandwiches. This technique, known as the Faraday method, aims to block the devices' electromagnetic waves.
The detainee's intention was to prevent the phones from sending or receiving signals, including cellular coverage, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. This was done to stop owners from geolocating their devices or tracking them via mobile applications.
The arrested individual, along with the confiscated material, has been handed over to judicial authorities for further proceedings.
