The XXX Almoines Popular Race, a well-established event in the Caixa Popular Safor Valldigna Circuit, attracted more than 900 athletes. This special commemorative edition was significantly impacted by adverse weather conditions, leading to a postponement.
Initially scheduled for Thursday, the race was moved to Friday due to a yellow alert for rain. Despite the date change, participation was massive, with the streets of Almoines filled with runners and spectators, underscoring the town's strong commitment to popular sports.
In the men's category, César López from C.E. La Vespa de Novetlè secured victory with a time of 23 minutes and 46 seconds. Dany Jares Hinojosa (Triatló Distance Z5) finished second at 24'01'', and Juan Vidal Ribero (C.D. Restaurante El Quijote) took third place with 24'14''.
María Isabel Ferrer Castell, representing Club de Córrer Camallaes, reclaimed the women's title, completing the course in 26 minutes and 48 seconds. Carla Breco Sancho (Club Atletisme Safor Teika) was second at 27'10'', while Sofía Martínez Bertomeu (C.D. Restaurante El Quijote) secured third place with 29'46''.
The day commenced with races for younger categories, from 'barrufets' to cadets, transforming Almoines into a sporting celebration with the enthusiastic participation of many young athletes supported by their families and the public.
The main race, spanning 7,500 meters, combined the urban center with rural areas of the municipality. The course, featuring its characteristic ascents and descents, tested the participants before the final stretch through the town's streets.
With this XXX edition, the Almoines Popular Race solidifies its position as a key event in the Circuit Caixa Popular Safor Valldigna, demonstrating the capacity of regional popular races to bring together hundreds of athletes and fans.
The next event in the circuit will be the XXXV Volta a Peu Miramar, scheduled for Saturday, August 29th, at 7:30 PM. Registration is currently open via crono4sports.com.
