The Sueca City Council is organizing an emergency self-protection training workshop in December, specifically aimed at the municipality's elderly population, in collaboration with the Red Cross and DANA.

The aim of this initiative, considered pioneering for its content, is to provide the elderly population with the necessary information and tools to improve their safety in emergency situations, which are becoming increasingly frequent due to meteorological or other circumstances. The Councilor for Senior Citizens, Health Promotion, and Sanitation, Carolina Torres, emphasized the importance of knowing how to react quickly to protect oneself and vulnerable individuals in the community.
During the workshop, the Red Cross will provide attendees with a backpack containing a complete kit of products and utensils deemed necessary for widespread emergencies. The intention is for this training to reach the entire population, although this initial edition focuses on seniors.
“

"The objective is to offer an emergency training workshop that, unfortunately, occurs more frequently than we would like. We want citizens to know how to react quickly to protect themselves and those around them, especially the vulnerable."

The preliminary coordination meeting also included Daniel Climent, president of the Association of Retirees and Pensioners of Sueca, and Carmina Ripoll, president of the Housewives and Consumers Tyrius Association of Sueca. Councilor Carolina Torres urged citizens to participate in the activity, highlighting the importance of having as much information as possible for unpredictable situations.
The workshop will last five hours, divided into two sessions of two and a half hours each, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, on December 15th and 16th, at the Casal Jove. Registrations will be made via a QR code that will be published shortly on the City Council's social media.
