The capital of La Ribera Baixa will host 20 national and international companies, offering a program that combines dance, circus, and physical theater, with performances in both indoor venues and urban spaces. This year's theme, 'The Complice Gaze,' aims to strengthen the non-verbal connection between performers and spectators.
The festival's opening day features several notable new additions. Creator Merce Tienda will present the absolute premiere of ‘La inquilina’ at Sequer Casal Jove, a reflection on repressed emotions. Additionally, Plaça dels Molins de la Vila will debut as a new outdoor venue with the play ‘Liebe’ by the company TITOYAYA Dansa, focusing on accidental love.
The Centre Municipal Bernat i Baldoví will host a workshop and conference on expressive mask work at 6:00 PM, led by José Dault, a member of Kulunka Teatro. The inaugural day will also include performances such as ‘La Phazz’ by Zero en Conducta, addressing mental health; aerial acrobatics by La Balbál in ‘Ninguna palabra’; the technological intervention with a drone by Qabalum in ‘Todo este ruido’; and the humor of Pere Hosta in ‘Woof’.
MIM maintains its community commitment with the local project ‘Nostàlgia’ by L’Últim Toc Teatre. This performance, resulting from an intergenerational workshop with Sueca residents, explores the passage of time and collective memory, and will be shown daily at CEIP Carrasquer.
The event, organized by the Sueca City Council with sponsorship from the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC), the Provincial Council of Valencia, and the Ministry of Culture, solidifies the region as a national cultural benchmark.
