The 12th edition of the Medusa Festival last night in Cullera featured an impressive display of 250 drones moving at 120 meters altitude above the main stage. Synchronized by computer and wireless signals, the drones drew luminous figures in the sky, combined with fireworks, in an opening ceremony that dazzled the nearly 50,000 attendees.
This show, which has been a feature in previous editions, this year revolves around the 'Apsaras' universe, inspired by Hindu and Buddhist mythologies. This year's ceremony introduces two notable innovations: the use of pyrodrones, drones equipped with fireworks launched from the air, and an innovative horizontal pyrotechnics system channeled by cables over the audience, a technique that according to the organization has never been used in Spain before.
The operation is carried out in close coordination with the Guardia Civil. The drones are positioned a few hours before the show on an esplanade behind the stage, and technicians individually program the trajectory and light patterns of each unit from a base station. For safety, the aircraft never fly over the public.
Renowned electronic artists such as DJs Wade, Miss Monique, HALO, and Dimitri Vegas also performed on the festival's main stage last night. Today, Saturday, August 15th, Aarón Sevilla, James Hype, Alok, and Steve Aoki are scheduled; while tomorrow, Sunday, Oliver Heldens, Timmy Trumpet, and Tiësto will perform, with Tiësto being one of the most anticipated artists.
