The XXIII edition of the 'Cullera a Escena' Theatre Showcase will transform autumn afternoons into a space for performing arts in Cullera. The annual event, which received over 70 proposals, has selected six plays to be presented at the Casa de la Cultura Auditorium every Sunday, from September 20th to November 15th, at 7:00 PM.
The companies Àgora Grup de Teatre, Stres de Quatre, Impremta Teatre, A.C. Musicales 3C, L’Últim Toc Teatre Solidari, and Suc de Teatre - La Tarumba will present their creations. The program includes a variety of genres, from comedy and musicals to mystery, addressing themes such as personal growth, human relationships, identity, and memory.
The Councilor for Culture, Sílvia Roca, highlighted the importance of the Showcase in bringing theatre to diverse audiences and revitalizing Cullera's cultural life. 'Each edition allows us to discover new perspectives and ways of understanding the performing arts, and that is precisely what makes this Showcase continue to grow,' stated Roca, who also encouraged citizens to participate and make the Casa de la Cultura a meeting point.
Tickets for the performances, priced at 5 euros, are now available for purchase through the website agendacullera.com and directly at the Casa de la Cultura.
The closing gala, scheduled for November 15th at 7:00 PM, will conclude the Showcase with the presentation of awards for best play, scenography, actress, actor, supporting actress and actor, direction, and the audience award. The event will also feature a performance by comedian Pepa Cases and a tribute to the career of local actor Juanfran Sáez Núñez.
The detailed program includes plays such as ‘Ja en tinc 30’ (September 20th), exploring the crisis of turning thirty; ‘Que 20 años no es nada’ (September 27th), a celebration of comedy and music; ‘ODIseo o lo que SEA’ (October 4th), a humorous take on the Odyssey; ‘Seis, el musical’ (October 11th), revisiting the stories of Henry VIII's wives; ‘La llegenda de Sleepy Hollow’ (October 18th), a tale of mystery and superstition; and ‘Destellos en la oscuridad’ (November 1st), a drama about historical memory focusing on Leoncio Badía.
