Furthermore, it shares the top spot as the league's highest scorer, tied with Girona and Eibar, and features Ousmane Camara as the provisional top scorer in Liga Hypermotion, level with three other players.
This excellent start to the season has allowed CD Castellón to equal its best historical opening in professional football. According to data compiled by Guillermo Viciano on X (CDCS Stats), the club from La Plana had previously achieved five wins and one draw in the first six league matches on two occasions: the 1953-54 campaign and the 1971-72 season, both in the Second Division.
In the 1953-54 season, Castellón, as a newly promoted team, secured victories against Alcoyano, Mestalla, Murcia, Badajoz, and Granada, along with a draw against Hércules. Their unbeaten streak ended in the seventh round with a defeat to Melilla. That team finished fifth in its league and did not achieve promotion.
On the other hand, eighteen years later, in the 1971-72 campaign, the club repeated a similar start, winning the first five matches against Tenerife, Pontevedra, Zaragoza, Xerez, and Mestalla, and drawing the sixth against San Andrés. Their unbeaten status extended until the 12th round. That Castellón team, featuring players like Juan Bautista Planelles, Manolo Clares, and Luis Cela, managed to get promoted to the First Division.
Since then, Castellón had not recorded such positive results at the start of a league season in professional football until the current one. They had only matched this number of wins and draws in the third tier during the 2023-24 campaign, with the team coached by Dick Schreuder, which achieved promotion to the Second Division.
