The Universitat Jaume I (UJI) has resolved the tender for the energy efficiency renovation of the Library and the Faculty of Law and Economics. The total investment, including VAT, amounts to 3.1 million euros and is part of a biennial strategic plan to address the climate emergency. The works will have an execution period of five months.
Twelve companies submitted bids for the four lots of the contract. The civil works lot, initially valued at over 1.4 million euros, has been awarded to Grupo IB10. The lighting adaptation, budgeted at 601,000 euros, will be carried out by Electrotenia Monrabal.
The photovoltaic lot, with a budget of 273,000 euros, has been secured by Indertec, while the implementation of the air conditioning system (813,000 euros) will be handled by Veolia, which was the sole bidder for this item.
The planned interventions include improving the thermal insulation of the roofs of both buildings, replacing existing lighting with LED technology to reduce consumption and energy costs, and installing photovoltaic modules. The Library will feature 166 panels (107.9 kWp) and the Faculty of Law and Economics will have 260 panels (107.9 kWp).
Additionally, the centralized management system of the infrastructures will be updated, and operational improvements will be made to the air conditioning, such as integrating damper control, incorporating sensors to monitor air quality, and replacing components in air conditioners and dehumidifiers.
