Last Sunday, September 20th, a solemn mass was held in Benifaió to welcome the town's new parish priest. Javier Camañes Forés officially assumed the pastoral role at the parish church of San Pedro Apóstol in Benifaió, following the retirement of Félix Duart Boluda, who had served as parish priest for 35 years.
The ceremony followed the established ecclesiastical protocol for the installation of a new parish priest. Javier Camañes was accompanied by a large representation of Benifaió residents, municipal authorities, and family members. Clergy from his previous parishes also attended, whose presence the new priest acknowledged with gratitude.
During the Eucharist, presided over by Camañes along with about twenty chaplains, the Vicar General, and the Archpriest, the new priest received the symbolic keys to the church and the tabernacle. He also toured the sacred spaces and rang the church bells as a welcome.
At the end of the service, Javier Camañes Forés thanked Félix Duart for his work and expressed his gratitude to all attendees for their "demonstrations of affection," thus marking the beginning of his new pastoral ministry in Benifaió.
