The Governing Board has agreed to launch a new call for aid for municipal building demolitions, revoking the current one to increase the budget from 100,000 to 300,000 euros. This measure will primarily benefit municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.
Provincial Vice-President Héctor Folgado highlighted that the increased call aims to improve safety and the quality of public spaces. He explained that the use of remaining funds allows for supplementing the budget to address more buildings that could pose a danger to pedestrians, especially those declared in a state of ruin or with municipal technical reports confirming their severe condition.
Folgado emphasized that the six beneficiaries of the current call are guaranteed their allocation. The subsidy line has proven effective over the past two years, contributing to improved safety and urban environment in various provincial municipalities.
The aid covers investment expenses, including demolition execution works, debris removal, and project and management fees. When awarding aid, priority will be given to the building's age, degree of deterioration, subsequent land use, and the municipality's total population, aiming to prioritize projects that generate greater public benefit and revitalize municipalities, particularly the smaller ones.
