The persistent heat this September highlights the urgent need to improve thermal conditions in many educational centers in Alzira. Although the Generalitat (Valencian regional government) granted aid ranging from 5,000 to 25,000 euros to 18 centers in the town, many still lack functional fans or air conditioning units for their classrooms.
These subsidies, part of the Thermal Comfort Plan and totaling around 180,000 euros, could not be fully implemented due to staff shortages and August holidays. This has created a race against time for the center administrations, who must complete the work by October 30, the deadline for justifying the grants.
The amount of aid received by each center was determined by its specific needs. Thanks to the efforts of public school parent associations, some schools have partially installed air conditioning, offering some relief to students amidst the high temperatures.
