The Councilor for Social Coexistence and Interculturality of Castelló, Vicent Sales, has presented the program of events for Colombia's National Day. The celebration, marking its 215th anniversary this year, will be held this Saturday at Paseo Ribalta, from 5:00 PM to midnight. The day will feature music, gastronomy, crafts, and various displays of Colombian culture and traditions.
Representatives from entities such as Villa Colombia (John Castro), the Hispano-American United Association (Marta Valencia), Un Solo Corazón (Yasmith Vargas), and the Latin American Association of Castellón, Aslamec (Aura Apraez) also participated in the press conference. Councilor Vicent Sales highlighted that Castelló is a city of encounters and that the Colombian community well represents the construction of a city based on coexistence.
Sales recalled that over 7,000 people of Colombian origin reside in Castelló, forming part of the city's daily life. He added that the Colombian community is the second-largest foreign-origin community in Castelló and one of those that has best put down roots. John Castro, president of the Villa Colombia Association, detailed that the event aims to bring Colombian culture, traditions, and identity closer to all citizens.
Castro invited both the Colombian community and the rest of Castellón's residents to participate in this open festival, emphasizing their desire for citizens to discover Colombian culture and share an unforgettable day marked by joy, respect, coexistence, and integration.
Throughout the afternoon, eight stalls will offer typical Colombian gastronomy, artisanal products, and representative items from the South American country, creating a space for coexistence open to all audiences.
The program includes children's activities with typical Colombian dances, as well as musical performances by groups such as Gira Colombia, a vallenato group, Mario Valencia y su Melao (Colombian and folk music), solo artist Isa Music (classic boleros), and the group Sabor a Colombia (tropical Colombian music).
The Ballet Folklórico El Latir de Mi Tierra will present traditional dances from different regions of Colombia, and an urban music group formed by Colombian dancers residing in Spain will offer a sample of contemporary rhythms.
