From the Association of Designers and Creatives of Castelló, La Exprimidora, the festival's organizer, they advocate for the province as a "motor of good design." The event aims to showcase the deep connection of design with our way of communicating, inhabiting, consuming, and relating to each other.
Among the highlighted proposals is the Pechakucha Night, which will take place on Friday, October 2nd, at 8:00 PM at Les Aules Espai Cultural Obert with free admission. Ten studios and projects will present their creative processes using the format of 20 images with 20 seconds per image, offering a quick and direct view of contemporary creation.
Designer Lina Vila will be the festival's master of ceremonies, articulating the narrative from the perspective of design as a tool for building identity, memory, and community. The conference day, held at the Teatre del Raval on Saturday, October 3rd, will bring together seven professional profiles to analyze the current design landscape.
Typography will be represented by Laura Meseguer, a renowned specialist with Laus awards and excellence certificates from the Type Director's Club of New York. From advertising, Jaime Pire, creative director of Copiloto, will speak, connecting creativity, territory, and social impact. Illustration and muralism will be handled by Isa Nieto, while Laia Ferran will explore motion design and how visual identities come to life through animation.
Regarding space design, Somos Nido, an architecture and interior design studio, and Meteorito, specializing in branding and packaging, will participate. The career of Lola Castelló, co-founder of Punt Mobles, will be key to understanding the evolution of Valencian design.
The festival also includes the participation of Erik Harley, with a critical talk on architecture and the built landscape, and an analog collage workshop led by artist Susana Blasco.
Besign Fest connects disciplines, generations, and ways of understanding design, showcasing local talent and advocating for design as a generator of value and economic activity. The organization, with the support of the Castelló City Council and the Provincial Council, is focusing this year on the women shaping the future of the profession.
