The initiative aims to integrate the learning of socio-emotional and cognitive skills into the school curriculum on an ongoing basis. These skills contribute to emotional well-being, mental health, and the prevention of addictive behaviors, as reported by the Carcaixent City Council.
The program is part of the Valencian Mental Health and Addictions Plan 2024-2027 and is based on life skills education, promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO). The proposal includes four educational programs adapted to different school stages: "Contes per a conversar" (Stories for Conversation), "L'Aventura de la Vida" (The Adventure of Life), "Unplugged", and "Habilitats per a la Vida i Adolescència" (Life Skills and Adolescence).
These programs provide didactic materials for students and guides for teachers and families. Additionally, participating centers receive training, monitoring, and advice from the relevant UPCCA.
School prevention is complemented by other educational materials, such as didactic guides, awareness campaigns, and resources for addressing specific issues related to health and healthy habits. Among these resources is the story "Fora fum" (Out of Smoke), which introduces smoking prevention from an educational perspective adapted for children.
Carcaixent's UPCA offers citizens a specific section on the municipal website with information about the programs and other preventive resources of interest to the educational community. Promoting well-being is a shared task, and collaboration between educational centers, families, and community resources contributes to creating healthy environments and fostering the personal and emotional development of children and adolescents.
