The Municipal Operational Coordination Center (CECOPAL) of Utiel held an emergency meeting this morning due to forecasts of torrential rain and the declaration of an orange alert. The security and emergency body has agreed on a set of preventive measures to ensure the protection of citizens.
Through a Mayoral resolution, the suspension of educational activity in all municipal schools has been decided from 1:00 PM today. Likewise, staff and those needing to travel outside the region are advised to do so before that time. Public parks and gardens will also be closed to prevent risks.
The mobilization of personnel from the public works and services brigade, Local Police, Civil Protection, and Social Services has been ordered, who will remain on standby. Municipal brigades have intensified the cleaning of drains, and monitoring of key points such as the Alameda Bridge and Don Julio López Tarín Avenue has been activated, with special attention to bridges and fords over the Magro, Madre rivers, and the Rambla de la Torre.
Preventive traffic closures are planned at conflict points such as the Camino del Cementerio Bridge, the Mesilla Bridge (CV-390), and the southern access to Utiel / Héroes del Tollo (CV-3990). The area around strategic facilities like the N-III gas station will also be monitored.
CECOPAL calls for civic responsibility, urging residents to avoid parks and wooded areas, limit unnecessary travel, reduce speed when driving, and avoid flood-prone zones. It is recommended to remove vehicles parked in riverbeds and stay informed through official channels. In case of emergency, contact 1·1·2.
These measures and recommendations will remain in effect as long as the orange or red alert for rain and storms persists.
