The operation, which has an investment of over 63,000 euros, is largely funded by a grant from the SEPE. The team consists of 12 laborers and one agricultural officer, who will work full-time until August 31 to facilitate access to agricultural holdings and improve safety in the municipal area.
The work will focus on clearing dry vegetation and removing weeds along the edges of rural roads. These actions complement the regular maintenance carried out by the council with its own machinery, such as the municipal tractor, throughout the year.
“"With this brigade, we reinforce the care of our rural roads, protect our natural environment, and create job opportunities for Onda residents."
This brigade is integrated into the municipal forest fire prevention plan. The work is coordinated with the Environment Unit (UMA) of the Local Police, which intensifies surveillance in urban-forest interface zones and natural areas through preventive patrols and the use of drones for early detection of incidents.
