The 'Penyes en Festes' of La Vall d'Uixó experienced a pause in their bullfighting schedule this Tuesday, but the frenetic activity continued. With no morning bull run, the day focused on the tent area with two highly participatory events: the paella contest and the costume parade and dance.
Children had special prominence with the inflatable castle, while adults prepared their paellas, some aiming to win the contest and others simply to enjoy the typical dish. The concert by the children's group Los Intensos reinforced the participation of younger generations in the festival.
With music still resonating, many groups focused on perfecting their costume designs for the parade, an event known for its ingenuity and satire.
This festival week is shorter this year due to the suspension of events on the first two days because of the forest fire. The Councilor for Festivals, Ximo Xorrilla, highlighted that the city and the festivals are returning "little by little to normality".
Xorrilla confirmed that the program may undergo changes due to the relocation of suspended events and announced that the children's 'chupinazo' (opening firework) will take place this Thursday, "because the little ones deserved to have that event". He positively assessed the response from the festival-goers and emphasized the effort of the board of directors of the 'Penyes' and the Federation of 'Bous al Carrer' festivals to make the changes possible.
Regarding the bullfighting aspect, any alteration involves many procedures. The 'encierro de cerriles' (bull run with specific bulls), scheduled for Sunday, August 2nd, will finally be held on the 8th. This Wednesday, the livestock contest will take place along with musical performances, starting with the bull run and cow testing by Javier Tárrega El Gallo, from Moncofa.
