The president of the Provincial Council of Castellón, Marta Barrachina, has defended the institution's agility and effectiveness in emergencies, activating the catastrophe line to begin the recovery from the damage caused by the fire affecting the Plana Baixa region.
The catastrophe monitoring commission has approved an extraordinary financial aid line. This initiative is divided into two action groups: a line of up to 100,000 euros for the current expenses of municipalities with burnt territory, and a second line of up to 5,000 euros to cover extraordinary costs incurred by the town councils of evacuated municipalities.
Initially, 17 towns will have access to this aid: Torralba, Ayódar, Fuentes de Ayódar, Azuébar, Almedíjar, Villamalur, Suera, la Vilavella, Betxí, Artana, Alfondeguilla, Eslida, Aín, Alcudia de Veo, Tales, Chóvar, and Nules. The president indicated that this number may be expanded depending on the fire's evolution.
The catastrophe line, which will be regulated by a government board, determines funds based on the affected area and is aimed at localities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. The objective is to restore normality as soon as possible, demonstrating the Provincial Council's commitment to being agile and effective alongside its municipalities and residents.
